Core Empire’s New Website

Core Empire now has a fancy new website which means we will no longer be posting here.

Notch Is Leaving Minecraft and We Can’t Say We’ll Miss Him

Head Minecraft developer and main shareholder in Mojang, Notch, is cashing out and taking his founders with him. Notch confirmed his exit from Mojang today in a blog post, claiming “it’s not about the money, it’s about my sanity.” Take from that what you will, Microsoft is purchasing Minecraft and Mojang for $2.5 billion.

What does this mean for Minecraft in the future? We don’t know yet, but we certainly hope for more than years of work on a ‘big update’ and getting a couple reskinned blocks and a few recolored mobs, or purchase-only DLC skins but minimal updates on Xbox, or cash-grabbing EULA changes.

We hope that Microsoft will recognize the potential for Minecraft with the extensive modding community. Personally, we would love to see Microsoft work with the mod developers to make packs like Dr Zharks MoCreatures, some of the shaders and resource packs, and so on, an official part of the game or at least an official option.

Time will tell what the future holds, and we have high hopes for Minecraft. But for the time-being, Core Empire will be taking a break from seriously playing Minecraft.

First impressions of Archeage. Apologies for poor quality.

General Update, September 6

Due to some recent trouble with a toxic guild member, we would again like to remind our guild members that if you ever have any issues with anyone from the guild, past or present, please do not hesitate to let one of our officers know. If anyone harasses or threatens you on any of the games CE has a home on, please report them immediately and let us know so we may report them as well.

WoW

After another very unsuccessful raid week, Core Empire will likely be reevaluating its main raiders over the course of the next few weeks. However, this was a very successful week for general guild business. We have begun work to solidify second and third raid teams, a BG team, and scheduling a weekly flex for our members. Up to date information and developments are being posting on the CE group page, and once finalized will be available publicly on our official page and website.

Other items in the works currently include a more official guild website, more content for our youtube including a guild recruitment video, updating guild info in-game, plans to expand our mumble by WoD, and scheduling several events such as a cooking achievement night in November and a Christmas gift exchange. Keep checking your calendars!

Once again, welcome new members and raiders!

Sometimes we just need a break from WoW, so currently some of our core group are giving Archeage a try and have been playing console games together.

While Archeage is certainly entertaining (maybe not for the right reasons), it is doubtful to hold any longevity for our members. If you are interested in trying the game out with us, do so soon.

Console games we have been playing together include Borderlands 1 and 2, Fable 3, and Dark Souls 2, but we are always up for some Titanfall or Halo too.

General Update, August 31

WoW

In spite of a relatively unsuccessful raid week and our worst raid night to date, Core Empire did down its first Heroic boss. We will be attempting heroic Galakras next raid week.

Much of this week’s difficulties were the result of unfortunate and unavoidable connectivity issues, however, many other issues have surfaced since downing Garrosh. In light of this, the officers will be finding time to talk to the guild to discuss attitudes, expectations, and the future of the guild and raid teams. Until further notice, we will be implementing some changes to our loot rolls system in an effort to make sure raiders are doing what they need to do.

Furthermore, CE has begun heavily recruiting, event planning, and community building. A big welcome to all our new members and raiders!

Other

There has been no major notable activity for some time in our other games of interest. While we do still play from time to time, much of our attention has been devoted to WoW for the time being and is unlikely to change until well after the start of the expansion.

General Update, August 25

WoW

Core Empire is now 14/14N and has completed the guild achievements to unlock the dark phoenix mount. We will be starting heroics this raid week and are working towards a second raid team to prepare for 20-man mythics in Warlords.

Looking forward to Warlords, several of our core players are planning to take several days at release to level and plan on being heavily involved during the anniversary celebration.

Minecraft

CoreEmpire is about 2 months away from a server victory in Civ. Most of our players have put Minecraft on the back-burner in exchange for more time in other games.

EVE Online

Joining Aloyious and Eve in EVE, Sympath and Nat have created started accounts and are giving the game a go. Stay tuned for more tales of our nefarious deeds!

General Update, August 3

CoreEmpire may be adding new games to it’s already extensive collection. Among the current and possible future contenders, EVE Online has grabbed our attention, and we are watching the developments regarding Archage. Nat has been busy with Team Fortress 2, and has been PvPing with Eve and Aloy in WoW.
In response to the number and nature of our expanding game interests, CoreEmpire has several new rooms in Mumble that we encourage our members to take full advantage of.
WoW

Only one boss to go before Core Empire is officially into heroics! Great work everyone and thank you to our many PUGs who have stuck it out on long raid nights. Core Empire is officially 13/14N with only 5 weeks of normal raiding under our belts.

This coming Thursday raid we will be making a couple attempts on heroic Immerseus before clearing normals to Garrosh. If we are not well enough geared to down Garrosh by the end of our raid schedule we will likely put together a PUG group on Sunday afternoon.

Minecraft

CoreEmpire conquered UFoP during last week’s wartime, and most of their allies have crumbled since then. REDACTED will likely crumble very soon under their crushing upkeep debt.

With the success of the war, and the completion of our third wonder, CoreEmpire is looking at finishing the game within the next two months.

Planetside 2

No major notable activity.

League of Legends

No major notable activity.

Rust and DayZ

With Rust’s latest development announcements, CoreEmpire will likely be returning to play after the next couple major updates.

Guild Wars 2

No major notable activity.
